Assembling a PC at his own is every Tech-savy’s dream. However, there are several mistakes that can easily spoil all your hard efforts. Damage done to a component can easily create a sinking feeling before you are even finished assembling every part together.

Ultimate Precautionary Tips On PC Building

All related phobias can be easily done away with as you are highly unlikely to damage your yourself or hardware if you consider very few and easy safe guards. It will surely help in eliminating hours taken by post- assemble trial and error.

Among these crucial concerns include dropped parts, breakage caused by scratched circuits force or fitment and electrostatic discharge. There is a need to handle all parts with card and try to place each removed part on a surface that is stable.

Before starting your PC-building process, shutdown and unplug the computer to prevent any incident. Moreover,  make sure that your hands are completely dry for preventing electrocution and damage to mechanical parts.

ESD( Electrostatic discharge) denotes the static electricity release that occurs when two objects comes in contact with each other. It can easily destroy hardware of your PC.

An elementary precaution that can be utilized is to touch a ground, occasionally, such as a metal case of a plugged-in system or a large metal office desk, for discharging your body.

An additional measure that could be taken is the use of a humidifier for extremely dry rooms and an anti-static mat under your chair(OR to prevent perspiration, try working in a cooler area). You can attain an extra peace of mind after using an over-the-top method of grounded straps(usually used by employees in manufacturing companies).

Broken components are not only a result of Electrostatic discharge. Damage from dropping could easily become a reason for broken components. Among the most mishandled part during installation includes Hard disk drives and other parts that can be banged on a desk easily. To avoid this problem, moving your work away from desk could be considered or try leaving them in their boxes until there is a need for them to be taken out for installation.

Preparing a place or a container for any screws you may remove could be considered. And labeling a container for each part (CD drive, motherboard, casing, etc.) would be ideal for avoiding any confusion.

The gravest concern that even the most cautious could not avert many a time is dropping processors at a slight angle into their interfaces. This problem mostly occurs latest LGA interfaces of Intel. The reason being the company has been adding more and more of contact pins, and they are becoming thinner after every upgradation. As intel’s pins work like springs, scanty pressure can easily be caused by a slight damage. Just there is a need to be extra careful while working through these small but critical moments.

Another kind of damages includes those which are caused due to misalignment and forceful placement. In most cases, almost all components require a certain amount of pressure for seating the connector, however, some of them requires tactics that are more aggressive their approach. In case of removing the components, do not try the forceful approach. Besides, take a quick check that that no other parts or wires are in the way and that you’re removing it correctly.

Have a safe assembling!
